FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE UK!
The Communities Project Leadership Training is an International Collaboration committed to saving lives by investing in the community leadership of people with lived experience and individuals who lead key addiction focused initiatives.
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN LEARNING MORE ABOUT LEADERSHIP?
DO YOU HAVE LIVED EXPERIENCE AND WANT TO USE IT IN YOUR COMMUNITY?
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN SUBSTANCE MISUSE FOCUSED INITIATIVES?
This Leadership Training focuses on the leader that exists within all of us; offers tools for people with lived experience to break out of their box; and thrive in every environment.
We focus on the need to lead responsibly, to closely examine our own actions, and seek feedback, and to invest in the leader within all who surround us.
The Communities Project Leadership Training is centred around the following beliefs:
Leadership is a natural expression – we do not “create” leaders
Leadership development is the process by which an individual determines how they are blocking themselves from their desired results
When leaders identify their own roadblocks to success, they are able to achieve stronger outcomes, and aid more individuals in their efforts

Communities Project Coaching Practice
Upon completion of our training The Communities Project dedicates time to each individual to begin a coaching dialogue in order to guide individuals in the use of leadership principles in their professional practice. The conversations centre around both the successes of training attendees over time, as well as identifying areas where individuals are “stuck” and not producing the results they seek.
We centre this dialogue around the following questions:
Am I taking responsibility for my contributions to my results?
Do I know what my contribution is, and if not, am I willing and able to ask for feedback?
Am I speaking to the leader in those around me and empowering them?
The coaching relationships will continue for a period of three months after the conclusion of the final training day.

What people say about the Communities Project Leadership training
“The biggest takeaway from the training was a fresh look at my own leadership. As a leader I need to continuously seek feedback, take it as feedback only and allow it to be part of my leadership growth and development. This feedback is crucial for me to seek different perspectives in bettering myself as a leader and to strengthen and sustain my organization for the long-term. I also liked speaking to the leader in everyone. As a leader, seeing/speaking to the leader in everyone allows me to lead from a place of empowerment instead of authority. I was able to take and implement these skills immediately into my everyday leadership and see results.I loved how the training focused on me as a leader. It wasn’t your typical leadership training. It was a real, in-depth look at myself, as a leader and a person. I feel it strengthened me not only as a leader but as a mother, wife, friend, and a strong woman in recovery!”
“I have been an Executive Director for over 25 years and this training enhanced my personal leadership skills, that of my staff and our Centre's Certified Peer Recovery Supporters who attended. The training was a refreshing, exciting and a valued new perspective.”
“I enrolled in a Zoom training workshop at the beginning of the pandemic, I was amazed at the personal connections made in a virtual format. Since my training I have been appointed to the Public Safety Task Force in my City, and spoken up on numerous platforms advocating for alternatives to policing for mental health and addiction crises in my community. The coaching I received was invaluable to my personal growth as an activist.”
