RECOVERY COACH PROFESSIONAL

CCAR, the global leader in training the Art and Science of Recovery Coaching has established a Recovery Coach Professional (RCP)© designation to elevate the standard for recovery coaches worldwide. Our goal is to have the RCP© Designation recognised, trusted, and valued in the addiction field. A Recovery Coach Professional, RCP© is a Recovery Coach who has invested their time in their professional development and can combine the art and science of recovery coaching.

To become a Recovery Coach Professional, RCP© you are required to attend sixty(60) hours of CCAR© training, including the two required CCAR© courses:

• The CCAR 5-Day Recovery Coach Academy© (30 hours)

• CCAR© Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches (16 hours).

You may acquire the additional 14 training hours by attending additional CCAR© training:

As the Recovery Coach Professional, RCP© designation has become more recognized across the UK and other countries Recovery Coach Academy has created the “Recovery Coach Professional, RCP© Pathway” to support individuals with the training and tools necessary to demonstrate that you are a vetted, knowledgeable, and ethical Recovery Coach.

Over the years, we have found that recovery coach certifications focus mainly on the science. To earn most certifications and/or credentials associated with recovery coaching, candidates must accumulate a certain number of training hours, accrue a specified amount of supervised time serving in the role, and pass a written test. In addition, many certifications require someone to be abstinent from a personal addiction for a specific period of time.

This is in direct conflict with the spirit of the role of a recovery coach, as well as honoring multiple pathways of recovery. We believe that vetting coaches is important as we embark into professional arenas, however, the act of being vetted should not create even more barriers for a population that is continuously struggling to eliminate barriers.

CCAR will award the RCP© Designation to successful candidates that demonstrate the art and science of coaching recovery through the following:

Training Requirements: Applicants must complete the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy© and the CCAR Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches©. In addition, 14 hours of CCAR© approved training programs for a total of 60 training hours.

Experience: In the application, the candidates will describe their addiction recovery experience and why they want to become a Recovery Coach Professional, RCP© through a CV and/or a written summary.

Interview: Candidates will have an interview with a panel comprised of CCAR leadership and RCPs. Read more about the CCAR RCP© Interview Process.

The RCP© Designation is available to ALL - people in recovery, family members, friends, allies, professionals ANYONE!

Just like each of our CCAR Training programs. There is no prerequisite or length of time in recovery required.

The Initial Designation is for two years. CCAR will provide the steps necessary for renewal which can be accomplished in a variety of ways.

Renewal of the designation is good for one (1) or (2) year(s).

The Re-designation fee is £49/year.

You may choose to renew your RCP Designation for one (1) or two (2) year(s) at a time, for a fee of £50 per year.

You may choose from one of the following ways to demonstrate your dedication to improving your own art and science of recovery coaching for each calendar year:

• Currently serve as a recovery coach (paid or volunteer)

• Develop and deliver a webinar for Recovery Coaches to be used as part of the CCAR Training monthly webinar series (1 webinar per year)

• Attend at least 10 hours of training/professional development (per year)

• Serve on 10 RCP panels (per year) as a peer reviewer

• IARCP Members may develop a curriculum that addresses the three-legged stool.
